The Joy of Discovery - Cydwoq!

I've just discovered a new-to-me line of shoes, which as you might imagine is a dangerous state of affairs. This shoe designer/manufacturer/retailer is in California, and they design and produce some beautiful shoes, fellow addicts. I've mentioned that I like unusual shoes, and these are not only unusual but unusually gorgeous. The concept behind these shoes, designed by Rafi Balouzian, is that they are made with fine leather that just improves with age and wear. I love the company philosophy and vision - and I adore the shoes. I found these today, and I'm thinking I'm going to need a pair of these one day. Oh, and the company name? It might be spelled "Cydwoq" but it's pronounced "Sidewalk". Being a total sucker for puns I also think it's a fantastic company name!

Fluevog - Truth "Pilgrim"

Recently I participated in a contest on the John Fluevog Facebook page. Fluevog is a shoe designer that began his career in Vancouver, and as such I've known about his shoes for decades. His shoes are now sold all over the world, with several stand-alone stores in Canada and the USA. The company was celebrating International Fluevog Day on May 15th, and asked fans to submit the top 15 reasons to love Fluevog shoes. Other fans would then vote on the comments by "liking" them, and I was delighted when my comment finished in third place! As a result Fluevog graciously sent me a $100 coupon to use towards the purchase of new shoes, and since I'd already had my eye on one particular pair the choice was easy. These arrived at my house this week, and frankly - I'm in love! Worn with a pair of jeans this is one smokin' hot shoe, just a touch of "country" with a very sexy edge. I wore them out to some local pubs on Friday night and they were sure-fire attention grabbers, as well as being incredibly comfortable. This is one helluva great shoe...

Jimmy Choo Does Good Shoe

Well, there are times a girl just has to splurge, and this past December I had the perfect excuse to do so. I was spending the Christmas holidays in London, and we had plans to spend New Year's Eve attending a black-tie gala at an Irish castle. I needed a full-length, black-tie-event worthy gown, which also meant I required new shoes, of course. As London was new to me I went out shopping with a personal shopper, which was a novel experience, and really a very bad idea for a shoe addict as they know where to find all the best shoes. I found myself at Selfridges, and their shoe gallery is like heaven. After trying on a few pairs I found these, which are just incredibly marvelous, sexy, strappy little Jimmy Choo shoes. With these shoes and my brand new designer gown I felt like the best-dressed woman at that Irish castle, which made for a glorious evening. My little Jimmy Choo's and I even took in the midnight fireworks standing out on a damp Irish lawn, and they are none the worse for wear!

My true confession, though, is I had to have the matching clutch bag. It's just gorgeous!

Too Much Schuh?!?

My last post was about shoes from my favourite online shoe retailer Schuh. I love Schuh for so many reasons, but every once in awhile I find a pair of shoes that I can't decide if I truly love or not. Sometimes I just think they are intriguing but can't figure out how to wear them, or if I would even try. These caught my eye, but I'm still wondering - if you wear these do you actually wear anything else?!?

Holy Schuh!

Well, it's no secret that Schuh is probably my favourite online shoe retailer. I love the fact that they are from England as it seems the  English are far more willing to take risks on some eye-popping, jaw-dropping shoes. I also love that they ship to Canada for £10 - that's really nothing for shipping, shoe addicts, especially considering some North American retailers charge $25 or more for shipping on the same continent. I love that duties and taxes are actually not as high as I feared they would be, and that shipping from England has been virtually problem-free for me. I found these at Schuh today, and I think they are fab!

Smokin' Summer Wedges

I just love a good high heel wedge in the summer. I found these at Aldo Shoes and I think they are terrific. I love the floral pattern, the skinny wedge, and the sexy little back zipper. The best part? They are on sale! I'm thinking of heading down to my local Aldo's tomorrow to check for my size!

Hush! Those Can't Be Hush Puppies!

When I was a child my dad wore Hush Puppies. I'm sure they were very comfortable shoes, but as I recall in terms of  style they were pretty abysmal. They seemed to only exist in suede or a suede-like fabric, and most seemed to be of the slip-on variety. I was recently cruising the Schuh website and a pair of shoes caught my eye. When I saw the name of the manufacturer I was stunned. Hush Puppies?!? All I could think was "these are not my dad's Hush Puppies"...
